With its lead oc corpa flaming, the Portuguese carge “LUANDA” arrived in Marseilles this morning. Following the firefighters’ battle with the fire, the LUANDA” is pulled out of Marseilles in 1973. The Portuguese cargo ship “Luanda” was likely named after the capital city of Angola, which was a Portuguese colony until gaining independence in 1975. During the colonial era, Portugal had a considerable maritime presence, especially in regions like Africa, Asia, and South America. Ships like the “Luanda” would have likely been involved in trade, transportation of goods, and possibly passenger travel between Portugal and its colonies, as well as other international destinations.
