The Ukrainian SSR Council of Ministers issued an order on June 22, 1959, establishing regular civil aviation service to the former military airstrip located near Boryspil. The first scheduled flight to arrive at the new airport, known as Kyiv-Tsentralnyi, was on July 7, 1959.
