A small group of friends welcomed international stars like Cab Calloway, Lionel Hampton, Stéphane Grappelli, Carie Smith, and Fats Domino as the festival evolved and they multiplied their exploits with the spirit of passion. The development of jazz music, especially in the swing and big band eras, was greatly influenced by the American jazz vibraphonist, pianist, drummer, and bandleader Lionel Hampton (1908–2002). He is largely recognized for having popularized the vibraphone as a jazz instrument and is seen as one of the most influential figures in the jazz world.
