After losing hope in his ability to support himself as a working musician, Braxton started playing chess competitively. However, in 1970, he joined pianist Chick Corea’s trio, which also included Dave Holland on double bass and Barry Altschul on drums, to form the short-lived avant-garde quartet Circle. With the lineup of Richard Davis (bass), Steve McCall (drums), Wadada Leo Smith (trumpet), Leroy Jenkins (violin), and Muhal Richard Abrams (piano, cello), Muse released his album Creative Construction Company in 1970. The album was later reissued under the title Muhal by the Italian label Vedette. Jazz and marching band traditions served as inspiration for the 1976 Creative Orchestra Music. In the 1970s, Braxton also recorded duets with Richard Teitelbaum and George Lewis.
The photograph is in Fair condition. Despite these issues, the description notes that the vintage appeal of the photograph remains intact. This suggests that the wear and tear, including scratches, marks, minor fading, and damage to the corners, contribute to the overall vintage aesthetic of the image. The condition, while not excellent, adds character and history to the photograph.
