Vintage Original B&W Photo, a Young and Old Soldier of the War – 1941

The depiction of young and old rising up to protect their country is a reflection of the widespread, frequently impromptu mobilization of residents who used guerrilla warfare and weapons to thwart and subdue colonial soldiers. Partisan movements attracted members from a wide range of demographics in areas such as Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Yugoslavia, and portions of Russia. These members included men and women, the young and old, and in certain instances, even infants. These movements were distinguished by their tenacity and resolve in the face of hard circumstances and severe penalties imposed by the invading forces.
