Brad Davis started appearing in off-Broadway shows by the early 1970s while studying acting at the Academy of Dramatic Arts. Midnight Express (1978), in which he played Billy Hayes, a young American imprisoned in Turkey for heroin smuggling, was his best triumph. It earned him a Golden Globe nomination.
