Vintage Original B&W Photo, The French Writer, Musicologist and Historian specialist in Czech Music Named Guy Erismann – 1978

Guy Erismann was a French writer, musicologist, historian, and expert in Czech music. He was born on March 24, 1923, in Villerupt and passed away on September 6, 2007 in Brunoy. From 1945 until 1988, he worked exclusively for Radio France. He founded the France Culture music initiative in 1965. He was appointed musical director of the Avignon Festival in 1962, serving in that capacity for 25 years, at Jean Vilar’s request.

Very Good Condition: This photograph is in very good condition, showing only slight signs of age and use. Minimal corner wear, very light fading or a few light scratches might be present but don’t detract from the overall appeal.

Born in Paris in 1931. After a career as a cyclist (French track champion in 1953), he became friends with sports journalists who, knowing his passion for photography (his first photos at the age of 14 years) will offer to freelance for their newspapers. Then began a career as a photojournalist. Simultaneously freelance and permanent freelancer for press agencies: “Parimage”, “Promopresse”, “Paris International Presse”, “Agip”. In addition to newspapers such as l’Aurore, he regularly works for the foreign press, Bunte (Germany), iOLLA (Spain), Rizzoli (Italy), Women’s Wear Daily (USA from 1966 to 1973), Bolero (Spain). He also collaborates with Warner Bross and Colombia productions. From 1968 to 1974, he became Georges Cravenne’s official photographer and covered all the Parisian events organized by him. In 1972 the ORTF asked him to join the Cognac-Jay reporting team. In 1975, with this same team led by Jacqueline Baudrier and Michel Péricard, he was responsible for creating the photo service of Radio France. His very eclectic career has made him approach all genres, from reporting to portraiture, from classical music, jazz and variety to theater, from charm to fashion and street photography. He is and will remain a witness of his time.
