Even very young children were forced to stop their schoolwork in order to participate in the violent conflict with adults. There are undoubtedly more courageous kids in our nation than anywhere else. They handled the task flawlessly, displaying incredible forteen strength and character. They took risks, frequently ending in death, but they never questioned their fortitude or the wisdom of what they were doing. People, both the very young and the very old, participated in different kinds of resistance against occupying forces throughout Europe and beyond. This includes taking an active part in armed resistance movements, like the partisans in Eastern Europe, or serving in supportive capacities like gathering intelligence, providing refuge to fugitives, and upholding community morale.
