The Square of Fallen Fighters of the Revolution, which is today known as the Square of Fallen Fighters, is the focal point of Stalingrad. It was here that German forces submitted during the Battle of Stalingrad. The Red Army Armored Force’s well-known Soviet T-34 medium tanks arrive in the square. The biggest military conflict in history was fought on the Eastern Front. Mass deportations, unheard-of brutality, complete devastation, and a staggering death toll from illness, famine, exposure, and massacres were among its defining features. Along a front spanning more than 1,000 miles, almost 400 Red Army and German units engaged in a series of actions over the course of four years. During those bloody years on the Eastern Front, around 4 million German soldiers and civilians as well as 27 million Soviet soldiers perished.
