Photographer and educator Nikolai Fedorovich Kozlovsky was a Soviet photographer from Ukraine. For the “Ring a Ring o’ Roses” section of the internationally touring Museum of Modern Art exhibition The Family of Man, which attracted 9 million visitors, Edward Steichen chose Kozlovsky’s photograph of traditional dancers in 1955. The photograph was found by assistant Wayne Miller at the Sovfoto agency. The catalogue for the exhibition is still in print today. Additionally, Kozlovsky’s photographs appeared in an American-distributed issue of Soviet Life magazine in 1984. Numerous illustrated books by Kozlovsky were widely available, and in 1986, his immense productivity was acknowledged when he was awarded the Shevchenko Prize for his book “Kiev”.

Condition: Good, the top edge displays a few sizable dents, the bottom-left corner is chipped, and the top-right side has suffered significant damage, obscuring part of the image. Pinholes adorn each corner, and subtle small dents are dispersed throughout, contributing to the photo’s unique character, despite its visible wear and tear.
