The 1952 book of the same name by Yves Gibeau served as the inspiration for this coming-of-age tale. A teenage anti-militarist’s father sends him against his will to military school. He is a reclusive pacifist who puts up with bullying from his superiors during his time at school, but not because he is weak; rather, he is strong enough to reject violence and its desired return. Word War II breaks out on the eve of his eagerly awaited graduation day, substituting the savagery of its initial front lines for the freedom he had gained. The mood is set in 1932 France with an original score by French composer Phillipe Sarde and photos by Yves Boisset.
Good Condition: This photograph exhibits some signs of age and use, including dents, creases, and small pressure folds. Additionally, it has been folded in eight and features two holes on the folding junction. Despite these imperfections, it retains a compelling visual appeal and significant historical value.
