Vintage Original Photo, the Worker and Kolkhoz Woman Monument by Vera Mukhina – 1937

The sculpture titled “Worker and Kolkhoz Woman” features two figures holding a sickle and hammer above their heads. The architect Boris Iofan is the owner of the concept and compositional design. Made of stainless steel by Vera Mukhina for the 1937 World’s Fair in Paris, it stands 24.5 meters (78 feet) tall and was later transported to Moscow. The sculpture is a superb example of Art Deco socialist realism. The hammer and sickle sign is formed by the worker holding a hammer in the air and the kolkhoz woman holding a sickle. during first, the sculpture was created to serve as the focal point of the Soviet pavilion during the 1937 World’s Fair. The Soviet and German pavilions were positioned opposite each other across the main Trocadéro pedestrian avenue by the organizers on the north bank of the Seine.

The photograph in good condition with some signs of age and use. There are signs of wear on the corners, some small tears, likely along the edges or corners and a chip or damage on the top right corner of the photograph.
