A young man who fits the description of a bachelor and soldier is searching for Anima, the eternally unreachable woman who alternates between appearing as a witch, mother, harlot, virgin, and saint. In his multi-layered, ambiguous illusions and fantasies, Anima transforms from a romantic ideal into a reproducible, technically two-dimensional replica that is part sewing machine, half woman.
